August 2024 Update

The Shootlanzer prototype build has been updated, fresh from AnimeNYC + PlayNYC this past weekend.

What's new in the August 2024 version:

Visual Updates

• New title screen.
• New visual and sound effects for player bombs and enemy defeats.
• New animations for Leona flying backward and shooting while flying backward.
• The HUD now labels the spread and shot windows with which powerups you have.

Gameplay Changes

• The first tutorial enemy has been changed to a Drone so that it will not shoot back when attacked.

• An additional wave of enemies has been added to Stage 2.

• Adjustments to Leona's attributes and behavior
  •  It is possible to move during tutorial windows.
  • Leona has less invincibility time after getting hit. 
  • Leona's spin cooldown has been reduced. 
  • Leona now has a brief invulnerability window after reviving from a death. 
  • If Leona has no bombs left upon dying, she regains one for free when she revives. 
  • Leona's bombs will damage enemies even when they are invincible to being shot, but they will take less damage from the bomb during this invincibility period.
• Adjustments to enemy attributes and behavior:
  • Iglid Heavy Cruiser (Stage 1 Boss)
    • Smaller hitbox.
    • Bombs fire more frequently.
    • Bombs now have a proper animation, sound effect, and hitpause similar to Leona's bomb effects added in this update.
    • Bombs now have a brief text accompaniment element when fired.
  • Iglid Brigadier (Stage 2 Boss)
    • Iglid Brigadier (Stage 2 Boss)
    • Reduced health.
    • Halved vertical tracking speed.
    • Weapon shot type changed to deal less damage.
    • Chasing horizontal range reduced.
